As a blogger, I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired lately.

I want to write. But I don’t have anything I want to write about. It’s quite a predicament.

I’ve been at this for almost seven years now. SEVEN YEARS! I remember when it used to feel effortless to get posts up 4, 5, 6 days per week. What the WHAT? How? It feels like a past life; I guess in a lot of ways, it was.

Maybe I need to jump on NaBloPoMo again next month to get the wheels turning again. Last time, I didn’t even follow the prompts all of the time, but having them there just helped for some reason.

Anyway, there’s this thing that I’ve seen bloggers do sometimes to help get out of a rut. They turn it on their readers.

So, readers: Since I haven’t been posting as much, I’ve been hearing from you less. But what do YOU want to hear about when you come here? Why do you keep coming back?

Not only that, but if you’re so inclined, go ahead—ask me questions. I can’t guarantee that I’ll answer them all, but maybe some of your comments and questions will be the inspiration I need.

  1. I’ve been reading since before you had your oldest daughter. I just like the ‘realness’ of your life that you are able to pass on with words. I’d love to see more of your new house. I know we’ve seen the playroom, the kitchen and parts of the basement (I think) that you started for your office. How are things going as far as that is going ? How is your daughter doing with her speech issues you had mentioned when she was younger ? How is your dog…we don’t see many photos and how he’s adjusted to having 2 kids around. Have you made any cakes recently ? Hope that gives you some topics :)

Did you ever do a full reveal of Nora’s big girl bedroom or Vivienne’s nursery? I was wondering the other day if I had missed those posts.

i’ve been reading since your were planning your wedding! i’d love for you to do some posts about how you balance being a working mother. also, i’d love to read more about you and your husband — how you share responsibilities, etc.

  4. I’m not even sure how I found you…maybe The Nest…but I loved reading about your home improvement projects when you initially bought the house.

I too came in via road to the aisle, when you were pregnant with Nora.

I enjoy all of your topics, parenting, family updates, home renovations, cooking tips…
I’m now a new mum myself, and I find that I often think back to what you said/did with Nora at a similar age, as tips and tricks for looking after my own little one. I think what I like most is the insight into a life that despite being in another country, is so much like mine. It really is like checking in with a friend. And as a “friend” I totally understand that the demands of a busy job, a family with two children, mean that I “see” less of you in the way of posts.

I hope very much to see you continue and I suppose I echo other commenters in that I’d love to see more of your home and renovations. I’d love to know the outcome of the flooring saga and see more of Nora’s big girl room, and how you decked out Vivienne’s nursery.

Thanks for sharing with us :)

I’ve been a reader since you were planning your wedding :-) As a soon to be new mom (expecting a little boy the end of May) I’m really interested in your experiences with going back to work and pumping. I’d like to breastfeed while at home (so morning, evening, and weekend) but then how do I deal with pumping? Do/did you breastfeed and then also pump in addition on Saturdays and Sundays? I live in Germany, and I don’t have the luxury of a large freezer, so building up a large freezer stash isn’t an option. I’d love to read more just about your day to day life of balancing your girls and being a working mother.

I would like to hear more about work life balance with the two little ones. I am a new mom and returning to work after maternity leave is going to be so hard (emotionally and physically).

I’d love to hear more about Tessa in general. Specifically I’m interested in how you prepared her for being a big sister to human babies and how you handle the dog/baby balance now. I have a female mini dachshund (who looks just like Tessa!) and she is a total princess. I’m completely overwhelmed at the thought of training her to be good with a baby.

I don’t know if this is helpful, but I love reading about ANYTHING you have to say. You have great topics, but it’s more your style that I love reading. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I found your blog back in 2007 or 2008 when I was planning my wedding and I found your invitations through a google search…been loving it ever since! You were the very first blog I started reading.

A lot of what everyone else said. Plus I loved the photography posts you’d do and the baking/cooking as well. I’d love to know how you and Michael balance things, life, work, babies, a dog. I can hardly keep up with 1 baby and a husband. I’m still curious what your line of work is. Also would love to see the house updates as well.
In general…it’s great anytime you post something. Like another said it’s like checking in with a friend :)

I’ve been a big fan since your wedding planning days. I’d love to see any DIY projects (for the kids, for the house, etc) that you are working on.

I’ve been reading since your wedding planning days! I also can’t believe it’s been that long. :) I used many of your ideas for my own wedding and then enjoyed cooking/baking recipes that you posted. It’s been fun to follow along with your pregnancies and the birth of your little girls, as well as watch them grow up. I now have my own little boy, born in February, so a lot of your parenting tips are helpful. You were actually my first introduction to “modern day” cloth diapers which inspired me to go the CD route! I would love to see more recipes (if you’re still finding time to do that!), as well as what others suggested…updates on Tessa, your house, and normal life. I really enjoy your blog…thanks! :)

I like your photos, seeing how much you’ve improved, and it helps me along the path (although i’m a few years behind you in skill yet!).
I also like hearing about your work/life balance as Katie mentioned, as i’m struggling with that myself with just one toddler. Not sure how it’s going to be when the second one comes along! Seeing how other people manage it can give me ideas for things i can change to maximise my time.
Thirdly (is that even a word?) i like your DIY efforts!

  14. I’ve been reading since your wedding planning days and love that you are real and don’t do the whole sponsored blog thing. I feel that if we ever ran into each other is know you are sincere and wouldn’t feel at all embarrassed to say hi.

With that in mind, I’ve loved the home improvement posts. And also the monthly updates of the girls. Believe it or not, those posts have been so helpful in broaching the kids subject here at home. Andrew had said numerous times-he hopes our kids are half as cute as yours and I couldn’t agree more!!

Hi Heather, Been reading also since road to the aisle. I would love to hear how the new job is going. Any updates to the new house, pictures of things you have done. New recipes, how your extended family are. It is just like checking in with a friend. So anything you are up to sharing! I can only imagine how busy you are with the two girls, so understand the deceased number of post! Thanks for blogging!

I originally found your blog in 2009 when I was planning my wedding. I found a tutorial how to make custom candle table numbers. I enjoy reading your blog because you are so relatable! It’s funny because I still remember how excited I was when you posted your pregnancy announcement for Nora, because I just found out I was pregnant with my first. I had my second child 5 weeks before V was born. We are also big football fans (not Buffalo though!) and only live a few hours away (but in Canada!)
I like reading about cooking/baking and I would like to see a photography tutorial!

  17. Amanda says:

I too like many others found you during wedding planning and have stuck around through the kid phase which we are also in right now. Two boys also almost identical in age to your two girls. Some of my favorites from you are product reviews (super helpful while I was preggo), DIY craft projects, and freezer meal cooking. Some how to’s with photoshop editing would be awesome! I just can’t seem to crack that nut, so frustrating!
Also, I would be curious to hear how the work at home mom thing goes. I struggle with juggling career and family like you have mentioned before. The 50+ hours a week at work KILL me! But I have been too chicken to pull the trigger on a more balanced job! Would love to hear the good and bad. Are you bored at home? Does it cause you to feel like you never get to do anything for you since you are always “stuck” at home? Do you feel like you are now committed to that job forever since the networking piece somewhat disappears when you aren’t in an office? Etc, etc.

  18. Lisa J says:

I know that both Nora and Vivienne were Baptized and you have mentioned going to church around the holidays. I would be interested in hearing about your faith and how you teach your girls about your faith. I also would be interested in hearing more about your relationship with Michael. Do you guys get opportunities to go out on date nights? What do you guys do for fun without the girls? Do you still have a strong interest in photography?

Is Nora in preschool? How has Tessa adapted to two kids? I would love to see more recipes on the blog.

You have such a talent for writing, so pretty much anything you write is good to read. :-)
