Today, I was going through my list of “to try” recipes when it occurred to me.

I’ve asked you for vacation advice. I’ve asked you for book recommendations. I’ve asked you for your thoughts on everything from politics to TV shows to nursery decor.

I’ve shared dozens of recipes with you, but I’ve never taken the opportunity to let you share with me.

According to my pregnancy books and BabyCenter e-mails, our baby is going through a growth spurt over the next couple of weeks. This makes perfect sense to me, as I am constantly starving these days. Seriously. My appetite is ridiculous. No sooner am I done eating than my stomach starts growling again. What. the. hell. I continue to try to eat reasonably because I am trying to prevent myself from getting HUGE, and they say you really only need an extra 300 calories a day. But needless to say, food is on my mind a lot lately.

I still have a list of new recipes to try, but frankly, I’m bored with it. I need new ideas. I need “fresh meat”! Unfortunately, I don’t have time to add new food blogs to my reader, since I am barely keeping up with the ones I already follow.

Soooo… I know there are many of you out there who like to cook and try new recipes, which is part of the reason you like coming here, right? I’d like to know YOUR favorite recipes (aside from the ones which you’ve come across here, haha!). Inspire me!

Note: I’m not really looking for dessert recipes, since I have PLENTY of those lined up in my “to try” list. I’m more interested in dinners, preferably on the healthy side. Chicken is our favorite protein, and I’m pretty picky with other meat, but I could be persuaded to try something new.

Hook me up with links to your favorite go-to recipes!

  7. Chicken Zorba is my all time favourite chicken recipe, it was originally on a Sainsbury’s recipe card but someone has posted it here: http://www.mumsnet.com/Recipes?call=RecipePage&pid=927
It’s really lovely, the seasoning on the meat is fantastic (I’m such a sucker for cumin) and it’s really healthy – it is messy though!
Sorry there’s no picture on that page, but I’ll see if I can post one somewhere.

This is one of my all-time favorite dinners and from prep to serving is less than 30 minutes! I think I remember you saying you don’t really like seafood, but you could easily substitute chicken.

I try lots of new recipes on my blog, my favorite is one that was passed down to me from my mom. Japanese meatballs. Some people leave out the ginger but DONT it’s what makes it! Enjoy! xo

So – since you like chicken, I thought I’d share with you the only recipe that my husband consistently asks for and everyone I’ve made it for loves. Everyone initially turns their nose up at it – but you seriously have to try it.

    Chicken Bog:
    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/chicken-bog-recipe/index.html

I used the Paula Dean recipe as a starting point – but really just “wing” the spices…especially around the house seasoning. I just double the black pepper, add a tsp of garlic powder, and a teaspoon of salt.

Maybe I should just make some for me to eat, vacuum pack some for you and mail it. :) It’s a good “southern” meal… cornbread is a good side for it. And this is the best cornbread ever (and it’s healthy).

This is my own recipe for arrabbiata sauce – a slightly spicy spin on red sauce. I make it from scratch, so it takes a while, but it’s sooo worth it!

It goes well with any pasta shape and I usually cook up some shrimp to go on top.

  12. This is one of my all-time favorite things to eat – an Indian-inspired stir fry:

If you don’t like spicy foods, you can leave out the hot chilies. And I think it would be delicious with chicken.

And if you and your husband are in the mood for a meat-free meal (albeit, not especially a summery one) this combo of soup and sandwich is decadent:

This is one of our favorite recipes- we love it! My hubby seriously requests this once a week or so. And as a bonus, its very quick and easy (gotta love Rachael Ray!)

    Chicken Parm Meatball Subs:

I’ve subbed in ground turkey for the ground chicken and it tastes great as well. Definitely try it out!

  14. If your still looking for some, here is what I made tonight and it’s one of our favs.
It’s white chicken chili. I’ve strayed from the original for some time now.
Basically you need chicken, chopped and uncooked, three cans of beans (any kind you like, but the white kidney beans don’t hold up too well), chicken broth (I use how ever much I feel like, tonight we did 1 1/2 cans), tomatoes chopped up, tomato paste and sauce if you like. Bell peppers, any color you like. We put hot peppers in it too. Then for spices, 2 cloves garlic minced, cumin, oregano and salt to taste.

This is for a slow cooker by the way. Put it all in and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Let me know if you have any questions. It really is fantastic.

I just made this a few minutes ago and it was effin delicious if you like fish. (Can you even eat fish when you’re prego? Or is it certain kinds? Whatever, this is good stuff..and relatively healthy and fast.)

From the Food Network (I can’t remember the chef), Chicken a la Orange:

    With actual perfect steamed potatoes:

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/perfect-crispy-potatoes-recipe/index.html

AND I actually make the chicken tostadas you posted a while back quite frequently with various substitutions (adding black beans adds a good amount of extra protein when we’re really hungry) and I found that fried plantains are an EXCELLENT side dish!

OH and also poppyseed chicken casserole. It seems extraordinarily unhealthy, it’s disgusting to look at in its uncooked form, but man it is GOOD STUFF.

Thanks, everyone! I can’t wait to browse through all of these the next time I’m stuck about what to make for dinner. :)

  18. I made absolutely incredible and super easy cockpot chicken. I used one jar of salsa (as spicy as you want!) and 5 large frozen chicken breasts (fresh would work fine as well). I cooked it on low for 6 hours. When it was done cooking, I shredded the chicken and added some sour cream. I layered the chicken with corn tortillas and cheese (corn tortillas, chicken, cheese, lather rise repeat). I baked this for about 30 minutes at 350. Easy and DELICIOUS. Overall, the chicken was INCREDIBLE. You could use it for tacos, nachos, etc. SO good and SO easy!

I will email them to you that way I don’t have to type them all in here.
