Flo-Rida
I am happy to be able to say we have booked our next vacation! With no trips to plan or to look forward to, I was going through travel withdrawals there for a while. :)
Drumroll, please…
We’re going to Florida!
Even though Florida seems to be THE vacation destination for people who live where we live, neither of us have been anywhere in the state aside from Orlando. We figured now would be the perfect time to remedy that.
So, in April, we’re flying down to Miami, and from there we’re going to split our time between Miami and Key West. We’re going to do the infamous drive down to the Florida Keys by taking US-1, also known as the Overseas Highway. I’m super excited for that.
Now we are just trying to figure out where to stay, and what we want to do! Key West offers so many different things that we have to narrow down our list of “must-do” activities. I’m especially looking forward to a little relaxing, too.
Let the countdown begin!

I'm Heather. I'm 33 and have been married to Michael for seven years. Together, we have two beautiful little girls we love more than anything, and a miniature dachshund who drives us crazy. I'm a full-time working mom who has very little time for my own "stuff" these days, like home improvement, cooking/baking, cake decorating, and photography. Despite the team not making the playoffs since 1999, I'm STILL a Buffalo Bills fan, which I think speaks to my loyalty AND sense of humor. I can't wait to pick up the pace with travel again some day... you know, when we're done being ruled by tiny fists. Welcome to my blog. The Address

Woo hoo for having travel plans in the works! I also go a little crazy not having an upcoming trip.
We couldn’t decide what we wanted to do this year (especially had a hard time deciding if we want to splurge before we have kids or play it safe with a more economical trip). We ended up going middle of the road and doing a cruise from Puerto Rico that hits 6 different islands in the Southern Carribean. We go in April too!
I can’t wait to hear about all your travel plans and, of course, see photos!
My husband and I have talked about heading down to Miami/Key West in April as well. I hope our plans come together and we’ll get to soak up the sun down there as well!
I hope you guys have a fantastic time!
We have always wanted to do that trip! I can’t wait to hear all about it.
We have a few “family vacations” in our near future – thank goodness – its always nice to have something to look forward to!
We’re going to Key West for our first wedding anniversary in July! Looking forward to your recap and recommendations!
You’re coming to my neighborhood! Woo-Hoo! So much to do and so many yummy places to eat down here. The drive to Key West is beautiful. Don’t forget to visit the “Southern Most Point” :)
Enjoy!
Heather- we did this exact vacation as our first vacation a number of years ago! If you need hotel tips or any other suggestions, let me know! DH kept track of every detail and took tons of photos. We stopped at a few of the keys to walk on the beach, have a margarita, and go snorkeling! you can find me at

OMG you are going to have so much fun. Key West is pricey, but offers some amazing hotels!
How exciting! We’re thinking about key west sometime next winter! :)
Be sure to check out…
– Bahia Honda State Park (about 45 min outside Key West) – gorgeous whitesand beaches, great snorkeling area.
– Dry Tortugas National Park – it’s a trek to get out there (2 hr boat ride), but well worth it. The fort is pretty cool to check out, and there’s lot of areas for snorkeling.
John Pennekamp State Park – best snorkeling in the keys, hands down.
