My only problem today is that I can’t decide which news to share with you all.
I could tell you I got a new job and we’re moving.
I could tell you that I’ve been infected with the Conficker virus (don’t open any e-mails from me!).
I could tell you I’m pregnant.
Or maybe I should mention we won the lottery?
Oh, yeah. And you should know I’m quitting the blog.
But of course, if I told you these things… that would make me a big. fat. liar. :)
April Fool’s Day is fun and all, but for the most part, I’m not a big fan of being fooled! I suppose it depends on the joke, however.
One year, when my mom was still having my taxes done with her taxes, she called me to tell me her tax guy had called and said there had been a mistake on my return, and I actually owed the IRS a lot of money. I was all upset, and then she told me–April Fool’s! NOT FUNNY, Mom.
Going back to my younger days, I have fond memories of tricking my brothers, babysitters, friends, etc. I specifically remember coloring a rubberband black (using a Sharpie) and then putting it around the button to the sprayer on the kitchen sink. I came up with some excuse to get my babysitter to turn on the sink and HAHAHAHA! SOAKED. I was quite the peach.
My cousin is known for pulling pranks on her poor, unsuspecting mother. The year she was getting married (in September), she called her mom on April Fool’s Day, crying hysterically, saying that she and her fiance had gotten into a huge fight and they were calling off the wedding. Another year, I’m pretty sure she told her mom she was pregnant, too. Now she’s both married AND pregnant (for real this time), so there’s that. Lord knows what she’ll come up with this year.
So what are your best (or worst) April Fool’s Day pranks? Ones you have pulled off, or ones you have fallen for? The “holiday” itself–do you love it or hate it?

I'm Heather. I'm 33 and have been married to Michael for seven years. Together, we have two beautiful little girls we love more than anything, and a miniature dachshund who drives us crazy. I'm a full-time working mom who has very little time for my own "stuff" these days, like home improvement, cooking/baking, cake decorating, and photography. Despite the team not making the playoffs since 1999, I'm STILL a Buffalo Bills fan, which I think speaks to my loyalty AND sense of humor. I can't wait to pick up the pace with travel again some day... you know, when we're done being ruled by tiny fists. Welcome to my blog. The Address

I find it interesting how while it used to be more of a holiday for kids in grade school now thanks to the internet it’s become this huge tongue in cheek thing.
Google and youtube have to think of something. Though probably the ultimate fool would be if they didn’t do anything one year.
