Notes Left Behind
Has everybody seen this story?
Heartbreaking, but amazing.
A 6-year-old girl was diagnosed with brain cancer. Somewhere along the line, she lost her ability to speak. Sadly, within just a few months, she had died.
And that is when her parents started finding notes–hundreds of notes–hidden all around their house. Notes that their daughter, while dying, had written and tucked away for them to find after she passed.
OH, MY HEART. ‘Tis broken.
The story is here. Now, her parents have put together a book about Elena and her notes. All proceeds from the book sales benefit The Cure Starts Now.
I just can’t get over the wisdom that some children have at such an early age. The fact that she would think to do this for her family… wow. What a gift.

I'm Heather. I'm 33 and have been married to Michael for seven years. Together, we have two beautiful little girls we love more than anything, and a miniature dachshund who drives us crazy. I'm a full-time working mom who has very little time for my own "stuff" these days, like home improvement, cooking/baking, cake decorating, and photography. Despite the team not making the playoffs since 1999, I'm STILL a Buffalo Bills fan, which I think speaks to my loyalty AND sense of humor. I can't wait to pick up the pace with travel again some day... you know, when we're done being ruled by tiny fists. Welcome to my blog. The Address

That’s an amazing story.
Wow. It’s amazing, heartbreaking and inspiring all at once.
That’s so incredible!
I have read your blog for a long time but I don’t know if I have ever left u a comment. Anyways it is so sad that a child has to go through that and they grow up so fast in the process of there illness too. Our small community(population 900 some) just lost a 6 yr old boy to a brain stem tumor. My neighbor was telling me last nite that before he died they were making thumbprints necklaces for his family. I thought that was a very awesome and memorabe thing for the family to have. Just wanted to share.
Kids are amazingly smart, aren’t they? What a great legacy she is leaving behind through her notes. Thanks for posting this!
